I bought this boat after being told of it by Bob Walwork. Bob is a famous boat racer and even more famous boat builder. He is considered one of the finest wood boat builders in the US. He happens to live right down the street from me, It's his fault that I bought this boat. My wife say's "thanks Bob" everytime we walk past his house. I say it too, cause the boat is really cool!
The boat originated in Painesville Ohio, and stayed there until 2000 when it was brought down to Ft. Meyers FL.
I think it has quite a colorfull racing histoty, but I have yet to prove it, so I'll spare you for now.
The hull has been reinforced (for racing) including the transom. A far as I can tell, this boat has not been in the water since before 1986. The motors are clean and never been in salt water. Original fuel lines and old wires tell me it sat. Compression is that of an almost new motor. ave: 122lbs for each cyclinder.
The previous owner's grandfather used to work for Fageol. As a summer job, he test drove these boats before delivery. This is the boat his grandfather kept for himself. The boat has been in this family since 1957.
After having been in storage for 22years, the grandson decided to sell her. He contacted me to help find a good home for "Sandra K". I couldn't think of a better home than mine.
This is truely a fine example of the transition between outboards and I/O's. More pictures to come.
