Fiberglass 1964 - 1968
Don Borum told me, that "in 1964, you couldn't give a wood boat away, any boat for that matter" The economy was poor and to make things worse, some one had the bright idea of making boats out of fiberglass. Once thought of as the finest producers of wood boats, The Borum Co. would have to regroup and make the move to "Fiberglass".
As much as Otis Borum hated the idea, the Borum's would have to learn to work with the new medium, or retire. With Don becoming one of the most inovative designers of the day, the company decided push on.
1964 through 1968 would allow the Borum team time to perfect their design skills by focusing on custom designs and one off boats.
The Borum Boat Cc. produced everything from Tri hull's, Deep V designs(the Continental) to a 36' Sport Fisheman that had a hull design from Bertram and Keikhoffer.
All boats of this era were produced in Jacksonville FL, as the Borums before.
Then in 1968, the company focussed on an original design by Otis Borum,
